Your student has been enrolled in this challenge in order to improve their multiplication facts knowledge and to earn an ice cream sundae! (Cue the crowds again.)
Here is how the challenge works... (Cue dramatic music)
Every student will be competing against himself or herself. They have been asked to memorize their multiplication facts of 0-12. Once they have memorized and passed off times 0 facts, they will earn a bowl. When they have passed off the times 1 facts, they will earn a spoon. This will continue as follows:
X 0= bowlX 1= spoonX 2= bananaX 3= Syrup X 4= a scoop of ice cream X 5= a scoop of ice creamX 6= whip creamX 7= chopped nutsX 8= sprinkles X 9= SyrupX 10= SyrupX 11= a scoop of ice creamX 12= a cherry (Cue the cheering crowds.)
Facts must be memorized and passed off no later than the last Thursday in September, and the multiplication challenge reward will be serve the next day, Friday.Challengers may practice their multiplication facts outside of school. They will be given time to practice their facts in class, and will need to pass off the facts with Mrs. Reynolds. Memorizing their multiplication facts is a skill that will support them in their education and the rest of their lives. They need to recall these facts easily or have a strategy to find them quickly. I encourage all the contestants to give this challenge their best effort and focus for one month. I look forward to their improvements and, of course, a delicious ice cream sundae! (The crowds go wild!)
